I'm 53 years old and was an avid runner for the past 23 years, until I injured my knee in June 2019. I was in constant pain, couldn’t run anymore, and was gaining weight. So, in November 2020, I decided to join the gym as an alternative to running.
Having not stepped into a gym for at least 20 years, I decided to hire a personal trainer to help me navigate the equipment, build a routine, and regain my confidence. I did a few introductory sessions with a trainer, then decided to continue on my own. At the same time, I was going to physiotherapy for my knee, but it didn’t seem to help.
That all changed when I met Mahsa in May 2021. She approached me and offered a free session. Initially, I was reluctant since I didn’t plan on hiring another trainer, but I gave it a try. In just one session, I learned more with Mahsa than I had in 3 months with previous trainers.
Mahsa listened to my needs and took into account my knee injury. She knew exactly how to alleviate the pain and help me achieve my goals. Her knowledge was impressive—she introduced me to different equipment, explained muscle groups we were targeting, introduced free weights, and gave valuable tips on breathing, form, and posture.
She also explained how strengthening my abs and glutes could help with my knee pain. By the end of that session, I knew I wanted Mahsa as my personal trainer.
In just over 3 months of training with Mahsa, I can’t believe the results. My knee pain is completely gone, and surprisingly, my back pain—which I assumed was age-related—has disappeared too. Strengthening my core and glutes has made a huge difference. I feel more toned, have lost weight, gained muscle, and feel incredibly strong. I always look forward to our sessions—they’re never boring and always challenging.
Mahsa has also educated me on nutrition, especially macros and protein intake, and constantly checks in with tips on how to improve my diet. She’s got a great sense of humor, is extremely motivating, and knows my capabilities even when I don’t. She is fully present during every workout, ensuring my form is correct, checking for knee pain, and guiding me through proper warmups and stretches.
This week, Mahsa introduced me to box jumping. At my age, I never thought I could jump that high, and I was hesitant. But I trusted Mahsa—she knows my capabilities and would never ask me to do something I’m not ready for. Achieving that jump was a huge milestone and boosted my confidence.
